iDatalink Maestro lets you keep your factory extras

This Pioneer offers compatibility you won't find in many other aftermarket radios, thanks to the iDatalink (not included). The module lets you keep factory features in your Chrysler, Ford, GM, Toyota, Fiat, or VW vehicle that you'd otherwise lose when you install a new radio. You'll also be able to check out expanded functionality on the Pioneer's screen, including gauges, climate controls, a distance sensor, and tire pressure and temperature monitors.

Radio that's more

The built-in HD Radio tuner delivers crystal-clear FM and AM reception. If you're a fan of streaming Internet radio, you can take charge of your Pandora® account from the touchscreen, complete with thumbs-up and thumbs-down controls. For an outstanding variety of music, news, sports, and talk programming, you can also connect an optional SiriusXM satellite radio tuner. This NEX receiver will even display album art from the satellite feed.

If you currently use AppRadio Mode, Pioneer has found that it won't work with iOS 11. They're working on an update, so you may want to keep iOS 10 until that fix is available.

Solid receiver and camera quality is manageable...hence 4 vs 5 stars. I wish the installation instructions included recommendations on running wires but I was able to figure out how to cleanly install in my F150 via a couple YouTube videos. Just had to purchase wire connectors, wire taps and flex tube to protect the wires when run under my truck. Overall I think this is a great aftermarket upgrade (especially for the price). Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity make the $ and time well spent.

Product is great. Installation instruct that you download leave a lot to be desired.

This receiver was purchased to enable Android Auto in my wife's Tiguan S. She loves the upgraded sound quality and the ability to use Google Maps in her dash.

Pros: Feature packed, Android Auto, Sound quality

Cons: The screen can wash out in bright sunlight.

No complaints. Hands free very good, no one has said they can't hear me-biggest issue of other products. Steam music iHeartRadio Sirius Pandora and is iPhone nav seamlessly at the same time with CarPlay. Have not use android auto yet but supports as well.

Great media player for my custom install in a G body. It took my rebuild out of the 80's and gave me a new car feel.

Pros: Supports almost every type of media source. Easy to figure out wit h endless options.

Cons: A lot to learn if you are coming from a single din 2 source radio.

Had some issues with the original radio a week after install. Crutchfirld had a new unit at my door in 2-3 days. Great fit for my wrangler and love the ability of taking the screen off.

Pros: Apple car play, screen detachment, DVD player, great fit and customizable lights and theme.

Cons: The vents from the dash on my Jeep Wrangler heat up to much and the track will not go back up after detaching the screen. If you run cold air before taking it out it fixes the issue

Has all the features I needed to maintain old tech and still have access to the newer options such as Android Auto. Camera wasn't really needed since the car had the camera as an OE option even in a lower trim level, and it added to the cost as a forced option by Pioneer. Previously, it came without the camera. Operating instructions are a little vague about certain functions. The display does adjust, but if you have a dash that slopes back towards the windshield like in my Honda Ridgeline, this feature was useless to me since you can't tilt the display forward to reduce the glare on the screen.

Pros: Versatile options for old and new music formats Large screen Excellent sound even with factory speakers

Cons: Forced option of back up camera Screen adjustment feature doesn't work for me to reduce screen glare.

Great Unit. Pioneer rocks the Hummer. Love it.

I've had this package installed in my 2015 VW Passat for the past 2 weeks and I am pretty happy with it. I have to admit however that there are some issues that prevent me from giving it 5 stars. For one, the Apple Carplay is not very responsive. There are many times where it just disconnects randomly. I have tried multiple iPhone wires so I'm unsure what the cause of the issue is. Also, there are times when the face buttons on the system do not work, meaning that the only way I can "play", "skip", etc. is to use the touchscreen. I've noticed that when this issue occurs, it also makes the steering wheel controls unresponsive.

Pros: Apple Carplay & Android Auto Screen is a nice size Looks great

Cons: Apple Carplay is sometimes unresponsive and occasionally disconnects. System is slow to react on occasion. Face buttons on the receiver are unresponsive on occasion. Camera is grainy at night

Crutchfield response on 2/12/2018 T, we're sorry you're having issues with your receiver. If the problem continues, please just reach out to our Tech Support team. They can help you solve the problem or set up a return within 60 days of purchase. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.

Great radio. Has some great features for crossover cutoffs between front/rear and amp outputs. Never knew factory speakers could sound that good in a jeep. Only hang up I had was my lack of understanding of Apple CarPlay. While it works great and is absolutely a large part of what I wanted out of a radio, one limitation really stands out. You are either all on CarPlay or you are all one other functions. For example, running maps while listening to radio or Sirius isn't possible. If your doing maps on CarPlay, you will need to listen to Pandora or another CarPlay app. Not a deal breaker but I really wish the CarPlay overlay would integrate funsctionality with the tuners in the radio. Even with that, if CarPlay is a solution you want, I highly recommend this radio. pioneer did a great job overall and well worth the cost.

Pros: Great sound control. Built in EQ brings out the best in oem speakers. Fairly easy installation for the average person.

Cons: CarPlay limitations with radio tuners and simultaneous operation.

Very good Bluetooth and H/D reception

Pros: Very good price for very good equipment

Cons: Not able to bring down electric antena at my will, must remove face of radio to bring down antena

Very good radio for the cost, a lot of features as well. Sleek clean design and crutchfield as usual sends all the instructions that get you from a-z fast! Thanks for the fast and free shipping as well!!! Always a pleasure doing business with crutchfield!

Pros: Very easy to install Looks great in my 2012 Camaro Options for ALL settings Remote Control!!! Bluetooth work with Spotify and Pandora and other music apps Highly recommend!!

Cons: None, this is a very well built radio!

Great stereo! Sounds great and love all the features.

Fantastic product. I kept my stock speakers and the sound is even better with this head unit

Love the unit!! Car play works awesome. Display reacts fast to touch. Camera is clear. But the most unexpected feature that works awesome is hands free callling. Friends have not been able to tell I was on hands free. I was not a pioneer fan before this unit but I am now. I always ran Clarion or Alpine but they don't have anything that can touch this unit.

Pros: Display reacts fast Removable face plate Car play Hands free is clear Camera works great

    Cons: None

Needed to update the technology in my 2004 Tacoma. I had leased a BMW i3 for two years and gotten used to the backup camera, hands free calling, HP Radio and Sirius XM and GPS. First I needed a backup camera as it became harder, with age, to see in the back at night in gloomy Oregon weather with a canopy. Next was handsfree calling with CarPlay as it recently became law in Oregon. And last was the crisp sound of HD Radio. I already have a Garmin GPS which I like to be at eye level on the windshield. The radio unit in the Tacoma is quite low and would not work well as a GPS. I saw the deal at Crutchfield so now was the time. I had ordered speakers from Crutchfield before in the early 1990's to replace the stock speakers in my 1986 MR2 and was satisfied with the service. So did not hesitate to order from them again. Order came in a week later, brand new unit with ready harness and MasterSheet. It took roughly 6 hours to install the unit and another 2 hours for the camera. I found the green/white parking brake wire fairly easily right at the switch which was easier to tap into than closer to the fuse box. I struggled finding the reverse wire. Called Crutchfield for some help but was put in a queue, busy on Saturdays. In the mean time, waiting for a call back I traced the reverse wire back from the taillight to under the driver's seat. Received an email shortly after from Crutchfield confirming color of the wire, red/black a

Pros: Excellent head unit. All functions are working as they should. Good installation support from Crutchfield.

Cons: Crutchfield should include detailed location of wires with pictures as part of their MasterSheet for each vehicle.

I just got it installed and have had only one day with it operational. A problem with the steering wheel controls though- some of the functions are on the wrong switches. I am taking a trip tomorrow, I'll let you know.

    Sounds great, looks great.

    Nice package. Fairly easy install

Looks great however I didn't install it because I ordered the wrong deck. I thought this one had NAV already installed.

Excellent stereo which really brought out the sound in my 2015 Wrangler with the Alpine sound system. Needed a back-up camera since I have almost no rear view and the detachable face-plate was a must for me since my Jeep is top down much of the year.

    Pros: Apple Car Play

Cons: Can't use voice commands with Amazon Prime music - unless there is something I need to learn.

Best screen I have had to date easily switched between iPhone or android and can turn CarPlay on and off with ease pioneer has always made a great product and this screen didn't disappoint

Pros: Really easy to use interface . Formerly had a kenwood and it was confusing to use this one is extremely easy

    Cons: None so far

Really nice radio but the bluetooth is not working with my iPhone. After several attempts at resetting and searching through the manual I am having to deal directly with Pioneer to try and resolve the issue. If we can't get it working then this will be going back :(

Amazing features, this head unit kills any radio. Appradio live is the new era of car audio. Waze on your radio screen is awesome ! Sound quality for audiophiles.

Pros: appradio live, sound quality, features for everybody, backup camera in one package.

    Cons: Nothing !

It's ok for what it is. It's a little slow when switching modes or turning on the back up camera. And music on CarPlay is blank.

    Pros: Price Easy install

    Cons: Slow

Awesome receiver. For all those that have Nissan 240sx's from 89-94, it will fit without modifications to the car. Not sure why Crutchfield states it won't. You will have to remove the pocket below the radio and use the stock radio's brackets to mount the receiver.

Pros: Faster than my older Pioneer dual din Installation easy and straightforward

    Cons: None

The face is a perfect size and the ability to customize the graphics & LED's is a nice touch. That said, the time it takes for the face to turn on-connect via Bluetooth or via USB CarPlay takes entirely too long. I find that it decreases my appreciation for the stereo by half. Every time I want to play music or a podcast, I have to wait for the device to register my iPhone. I would expect a stereo at this price point to work like an OEM plays music the moment you want to hear it.

Pros: Perfect size and nice customizable interface.

Cons: Connectivity to your device takes too long.

Install was fun and a good learning experience on my 2008 Jeep Wrangler (2 door). Had to bust out the dremmel to cut the top portion of a metal bracket that was holding the factory radio in place, and then the 4201NEX fit perfectly. I rand the backup cam to the spare tire carrier and mounted it directly under the 3rd brake light. The 4201NEX really made my infinity sound system work the way it was intended to, there's a noticeable improvement in sound and the volume is MUCH louder than before. Super happy, thanks Crutchfield and Pioneer!

Pros: Mail in rebate, awesome features (I.e touch screen, DVD player, HD audio, Backup Cam and adjustable camera guide. You can also turn the lines completely off if you want!

Cons: Had to cut the metal bracket, added an extra 30 min to the install. Not really a big deal though!

The Pioneer AVH-4201NEX Package was a perfect replacement for a non-working OEM system. I wanted versatility for different apps and options to hear and play music. The bonus back-up camera was an upgrade for me and was very simple to install. My advisor Paul made sure I had ecerything I needed for a sucessful installation,

Pros: Ease of installation and great end results

Cons: the camera was a "stick-on" would have preferred a tag mount bracket, but I can add one later

I did the install myself and I think it turned out pretty good. It took a little longer than I anticipated but I wanted to do it right and I was not in a hurry. It made my existing speakers sound much better.I'm still figuring out all that it can do, a lot of technology for my 16 year old truck.

    Pros: Quality prouduct

    Cons: Non so far.

Great unit overall. Sounds great, interface is good, Carplay is great. My only complaint is with the detachable face: you can't remove the face with the key off. So if you forget to remove it and turn off the key, you have to turn it back on AND let the radio go through its bootup sequence (I haven't timed it but I'd guess 30 sec) before you can take the face off. So, if you're running late when you arrive somewhere, you either lose some more time, or you leave the face on the radio. Or if you realize at night 'oops, I left the radio face in the jeep', it's not a 10 second thing to go grab it; it's a full minute. Seems trivial, but if it's cold and you're in your undies, it matters. Also, the button to remove it is activated by touchscreen, so, theoretically, if the touchscreen were to go out, you wouldn't be able to remove the face of the radio at all. Highly unlikely, I know, but it could happen.

Pros: Sounds great Easy interface Carplay rocks

Cons: Removing the detachable face is more of a pain than it should be

I am so happy with my purchase! This stereo with backup camera has been an excellent choice. The sound quality exceeded my expectations. The video quality is very good. I love the detachable faceplate. I highly recommend this stereo for anyone looking for an easy upgrade. I paid for professional install, so I can't say anything about the ease of installation.

Pros: Great video quality. Excellent sound.

    Cons: None so far!

Radio reception not great. Otherwise a great unit.

    Pros: Easy adjustments. Great sound.

    Cons: Poor reception

Perfect fit for my 2007 Ford F150! All the features and more I was looking for at a reasonable price after Pioneer rebate! Huge screen is a positive and a must!

    Pros: Everything!

    Cons: None, thus far!

Seems to be built well parts seem to be of good quality hopefully it will last a long time. Setup can be challenging but just read the manual. Instructions for the PAC RP4.2-TY11 Wiring Interface is garbage unless you are an experienced installer you will be calling Crutchfield for help. I found the Crutchfield removal and installation to be very accurate and helpful. I found the microphone installation fairly easy to accomplish, but the backup camera can be quite time consuming to achieve a quality installation in a 2005 Toyota 4runner. I placed the camera just above the licence plate and just right of the rear hatch door switch and then routed the cable inside of the back hatch, this required a lot of cable fishing and enough cable ties to prevent the rear window from damaging the cable. This gave a very clean install with only 3 inches of cable exposed behind the rear backup light. Total time for installation about 7 hours with half of that caused by the the poor instructions for the wiring interface.

    Pros: Great features, sturdy product.

Cons: Can be a challenge to install, not for a novice.

i want to let anyone considering the challenge of putting this unit in a car on their own i did it and it worked out fine i installed this head unit, the backup camera, and a powered subwoofer into a 2009 Odyssey van and it was not nearly as difficult as it might appear. i have never done this before but took the challenge on.....I called Crutchfield a couple times to make sure i wired everything correctly and it all worked out fine The molding in your car pops out simply (just look on Google and Youtube). if you get stumped call Crutchfield Now i have an older car that is electronically up to date and it is awesome and very cost effective because i did it myself and you can too

Decided to update my 2007 Toyota, wanted hands free Bluetooth, back up camera and Android Auto. Looks and works great.

Pros: Fantastic, gave me all the technology I was looking for.

    Cons: None yet.

My car had factory installed stereo system. Pioneer 4201-NEX was the perfect find for me. The dashboard now looks visually appealing. Carplay works exceptionally well. Making and receiving calls is now better as I dont have to have the phone in my hand and doesn't disturb when I am driving. All eyes on road now. Backup camera works great during day & night. All in all I am very happy with this NEX package. Cons - I am not a great fan of Apple maps; used to Google Maps. Apple Carplay needs to either improve in adding more apps or they need huge improvement in Apple Maps. With IOS 11, apple maps have improved with lane assist and some more features; still getting used to it.

Pros: Visually appealing system. Great backup camera.

If the AppRadio features (such as Waze integration) are a top selling point for you like it was for me, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. This feature is garbage. For one, in order for AppRadio to work, you need both USB and HDMI plugged in to your phone. Additionally, you cannot use HD Radio, CD player, SiriusXM radio, or CarPlay while using any AppRadio app. Waze implementation through AppRadio was even worse. The keyboard simply doesn't work on the screen (the keyboard was too big for the screen and did not go away after trying to use it). If you think you want CarPlay, you will probably hate it unless you plan to only use Apple Maps and your iPhone's music. None of the CarPlay components work while using other audio sources. The instructions provided by Crutchfield for installation are very cryptic. Unless you are a professional, you will not get through this installation without help from Crutchfield technical support. Additionally, there are NO instructions for installing the backup camera. I wish I would've called them as soon as I hit a snag, instead of trying to figure the instructions out myself. Really, I should've just paid for professional installation. I wasted well over half a day on this project between the various installation steps and figuring out that AppRadio is junk. Despite all the things Pioneer did poorly at on this stereo, the screen is nice; HD Radio, SiriusXM, CD, and iPhone Music work nicely. But I could've bought a much cheaper unit for the

Pros: Nice screen SiriusXM HD Radio CD Player iPhone Music Display 2 USB Ports Backup Camera Functionality Available Better than the Honda factory radio Fast charging through the USB Ports

Cons: AppRadio is junk CarPlay is not much better Installation Instructions are cryptic and incomplete You can get a cheaper unit with all the features that DO work well.

Good product, Carplay has some hiccups but still a solid unit for the price.

This receiver is a great unit! It really woke up my factory Bose system and the 13 band EQ is really nice.

This is an awesome piece of equipment. It's very user friendly and has a lot of bells and whistles. I couldn't be happier with this deck, or with Crutchfield.

    Very satisfied with my purchase.

    Cons: none

The product is solid, but requires good quality cables to loop around your dashboard, cheapy cables will perhaps not work with android auto or apple carplay. The company is solid, had issues with not everything being in the package, so I called the customer service department the day of installation, and they agreed to pay what it would cost to get that missing part. Also specific note about this, and the metra dashkit, depending on your dash you may need to cut part of the metra dashkit to get the unit to pop off like it claims to. I mention this, because cutting it the kit will make the product look less professionally installed, but is the only way to get the unit to pop off with this dash kit! so boo they really do give you a low-quality dashkit. Additionally if you have a double-din don't be shocked that thin front plate is all you get. That is your kit.

Pros: Great stereo unit Lots of functionality Android Auto Apple CarPlay.

Cons: The dashkit is terrible, almost dont buy it or look into aftermarkets like scosche. Price, rather expensive!

Very happy with this unit in my Jeep Wrangler. Had to do some dash trimming behind the scenes but got it working. iDatalink works great with the unit. Like the Apple Car Play features no real need for GPS enabled unit any longer. Work every penny especially after the rebate right now.

Pros: Easy install, fast programming, backup camera, apple car play, front camera option.

Cons: Sometimes unit gets frozen and need to power cycle. When powered off no clock will display. Need more Apple Car Play apps to chose from.

A very good upgrade from factory unit. This unit went into a '02 GMC Sierra and I now have the backup cam that was needed!Installation was a bit tedious running all the wiring but that was expected. Crutchfield was right on with a small issue and now when friends get in for a ride, they always say what year is your truck? It does take a few seconds to boot up but, after all it's basically a computer. All in all it 's everything I wanted for an old pickup truck

Pros: Decent price, Good features and good sound from a reliable Pioneer stereo

Cons: Boot up time, needs more power

This radio is fantastic! The biggest selling point is that it has a nice, clean interface that uses big fonts so you don't have to take your eyes off the road for too long to see the menus. It is by far the most intuitive UI I've seen on a head unit. Easy to navigate to whatever feature you need at the moment. I haven't cracked open the owner's manual once, because it's so easy! Oh yeah, sounds great too.

Pros: Clean interface, easy to navigate, and the sound is fantastic. Apple carplay and Android auto are also great.

Cons: Doesn't scroll has neatly as a phone, but no head unit does. That's about the only negative I can imagine.

Put this in my 2007 Mustang Shaker 1000 and man it's Awsome, woke up the entire system, sounds 1 million times better and updated to a modern system with use of my Google maps don't hesitate you will love this unit

    Pros: Awsome sound quality

Cons: No cons I love this head unit

Best radio I've bought in years. I normally buy pioneer, it I have strayed the last few head units. SO,SO glad to be back with pioneer. It even does things my car didn't originally do. The camera is awesome and tiny very unnoticeable.

Wow, a great head unit. Best around, sound is great and the fact I can use an SD card and my smartphone with it is awesome

Got this steak to replace the Kenwood DDX 9902. So far I a.m. liking this deck it has so many options I still haven't figured everything out yet. Would definitely recommend to anybody

Pros: Lots of user options easy to navigate

    Sounds great

    Pros: Sounds great

    Cons: Long delay between functions

Wow what a great radio does more than I expected backup camera was super easy to install and adjust No problems hooking my Samsung S8 plus up, I haven't tried android auto yet but that's next

Pros: I love everything about this radio

Cons: Nothing that I can think of

This unit is great! The rear view camera is great, looks really nice, a little hiccup on the install, but Crutchfield helped me out 3 times during install, couldn't ask for better customer service!! The HD radio sounds like satellite, couldn't ask for anything more!!

Pros: Great unit Rear view camera

    Cons: Lots of wires

Smoking Hot! Great unit superior sound quality and works with iDatalink in my Toyo!

Pros: All the features CarPlay... AndroidAuto... Great GUI

    Cons: None as of yet...

Solid unit for the price. The instructions are vague, so be sure you are up to the task of installing before you begin. So far, all features work as advertised. The unit has greatly improved the sound over OEM. Menu is easy to navigate. I wish the camera mounted differently.

Pros: Easy to install, clean looking mount, solid features, nice improved sound over OEM, easy menu navigation.

Cons: Vague installation directions would make it very difficult for most do it yourselfers, the way the camera mounts, cable required for Apple car play

    (1) Didn't know that Android Auto only works if the phone is plugged into the stereo's USB. Crutchfield should have made this clear. Now between my Qi phone charger mount and required USB cord, I have sloppy looking wires everywhere. (2) the dash kit that Crutchfield sold me is not compatible with this stereo in my 2009 Tundra. The outer trim piece blocks the screen from flipping up despite tweaking. (3) There is no place to mount the backup camera that came with. The camera interferes with the tailgate. The professional installer who worked on this researched what other Tundra owners did but found no solution. Now I have to buy a license plate mount camera and am stuck with an extra camera. (4) the Idatalink unit wouldn't work so the installer had to call tech support "6 times" (per invoice). The unit was faulty and had to go through a master reset and numerous times of flashing to get it to work. (5) the installer spent 6 hours on this project and in the end I have no camera (but some pre-wiring) and a big gap around the head unit because the trim doesn't fit. Luckily the installer forgave 2 hours of his time. (6) the install instructions that Crutchfield includes with the stereo were totally incomplete. Yeah, they depicted how to remove the dash and included pages and pages of unrelated stuff on speaker upgrades, but there was no way a do-it-yourselfer could have done this install with the information provided. Done w/ Crutchfield

This is a solid mid-range unit that works well for my needs and does what it's supposed to. In my 8th gen civic SI i do get some glare on the screen so I wish it were more of a matte finish. the backup camera is okay but also suffers from glare issues during bright days. All in all i think its a good head unit I mostly just use android auto and don't take advantage of any other media features. Use this with the Maestro and you will be a satisfied customer.

Pros: Unit is build well easy to install and compatible with maestro.

Cons: screen has some glare, not the most responsive screen and the android auto has crashed a couple times (The unit may need an update though)

The HDMI input will provide video and audio playback. Your vehicle's parking brake will need to be engaged to view video on the receiver's screen. Playback functions will need to be controlled from your HDMI-connected device (not the Pioneer head unit).

AV Output (w/ Dual Zone): The unit features a composite video jack and 3.5mm audio jack to output AV signals to an optional monitor and headphone system. You can simultaneously enjoy the same or different sources in the front and rear of your vehicle. The unit's dual zone AV output can be set to Mirror, DVD/CD, AV, USB-1/iPod, SD, or Off. The Mirror mode simply outputs the same audio/video signal (not including HDMI, CarPlay, or Android Auto) which is playing on the head unit's touchscreen monitor to your connected rear monitor/headphone system.

Note: USB/iPod 1 and SD cannot be selected for playback in the rear of the vehicle when CarPlay or Android Auto is active.

Included Backup Camera: The AVH-4201NEX is equipped with a composite video rear-view camera input and includes Pioneer's ND-BC8 backup camera that can assist with rear visibility, towing, or parking. When the vehicle's transmission is put in reverse, the screen automatically switches to the rear view camera (violet/white wire of the harness must be connected to the vehicle's reverse lamp circuit for automatic video switching). Automatic video switching takes approximately 0.8 seconds. Additional rear-view camera features include:

Note: The rear view camera feature is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.

iDatalink Serial Port: This Pioneer DVD receiver is compatible with the iDatalink Maestro RR (, sold separately); a web programmable module that will permit the aftermarket Pioneer receiver to work with select Ford/Lincoln/Mercury vehicles that feature the factory SYNC system, select GM vehicles with factory OnStar, select Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles with U-Connect, select Volkswagens with factory digital amplifier, select Toyota/Scion vehicles, and select Fiat vehicles.

Note: The iDatalink Maestro RR is web programmable, which means you'll need to flash the iDatalink Maestro RR interface module with the correct firmware from . In addition to flashing the iDatalink Maestro RR module, you'll also need a (sold separately). The Pioneer receiver's OEM Setup menu must also be configured with your compatible vehicle's factory system before initial operation.

Navigation Ready: The Pioneer AVH-4201NEX allows you to connect the Pioneer AVIC-U280 add-on navigation unit (, sold separately) through its RGB Input. This versatile hideaway unit allows you to switch to navigation mode with the touch of a button. Get to your destination by inputting an address or search through the POI library while enjoying whatever source is currently playing.

Seems like a good package. I needed a backup camera for my older truck. [ David Dec 01, 2017 ]
I did a LOT of research. Key things for me was the HD radio, XM ready, Apple CarPlay, and touch screen. I don't think I'll ever upgrade to the Navigation package since I can use my phone interface. Added bonus for me was the dual camera inputs. I pull a lot of trailers and I already have a tailgate to review mirror backup camera system. Now I'll be able to re-route it to the receiver (larger, clearer screen) and will be able to switch back and forth between the two camera views. [ Will Nov 24, 2017 ]
Based on reviews of comparing to Kenwood, and around my price point. [ Douglas Nov 24, 2017 ]
    its an Awesome Unit 1 [ James Nov 23, 2017 ]
wife was happy with the current, paid for, car except for the radio and lack of back-up camera. Thousands for a new car or hundreds for a new entertainment system. Hmmm. Problem solved. Happy wife, happy life. [ Russell Nov 14, 2017 ]

    Recommendation by a friend. [ James Douglas May 30, 2017 ]
    As a replacement [ Chris May 21, 2017 ]
A removable faceplate receiver seemed like a good idea after having my truck window broken three times. The thief never got my previous receiver all the way out but the cost of the windows is adding up! This receiver is low wattage so I felt an amplifier was necessary. Wiring the amp will add to hook up time and the amp will have to fit somewhere, not ideal Pioneer. [ Guest May 20, 2017 ]
Wanted the Pioneer AVH-4200NEX receiver because of removable faceplate (for times when car is parked at the airport), Apple CarPlay, 13 band graphic EQ. Had to get the bundle because Crutchfield was no longer offering the receiver alone and wanted to have their tech support in case any installation issues were encountered. [ Eric May 14, 2017 ]
Looks great and is very compatible with android and ios. It also was the only one in the price range to offer a backup camera [ Anthony Apr 27, 2017 ]
Packed with features, I love the new lay out of the screen (button on bottom) the other model i was looking at did not have android auto or HD radio and this unit had both with a camera for only $100 more. [ Samuel Apr 20, 2017 ]
Supports Android Auto and Apple car play. [ John Feb 26, 2017 ]

Unfortunately the answer is no. This receiver can only connect to one Bluetooth enabled device at a time. [ Matthew Mar 04, 2018 ]
I've tried using the AppRadio feature and haven't been able to get it to work. I'm running iOS 11.3 beta and still haven't seen a change. But honestly, all the installed apps for CarPlay are all I really use anyway. [ Michael Feb 02, 2018 ]
    I don't use any radio apps, but I have no issues with ios11 [ GREGORY Feb 02, 2018 ]
if I'm not mistaken, it requires a SDHC class 10, and HAS to be formatted fat32. 32gb is the biggest. In the manual it says it'll only handle about 3000 songs, and 32gb will handle that no problem. [ GREGORY Feb 02, 2018 ]
You can just use the Apple cord on the designated USB port for Apple and Apple carplay [ Hugo Jan 21, 2018 ]
You can control your phone or iPod through Bluetooth on the head units interface. Or if you have an Apple CarPlay compatible device, it will need to be connected through one of the USB ports that's on the back of the head unit. CarPlay will only work if your device is plugged in. You will have to check the manufacturer for a list of CarPlay comparable devices. [ Matthew Jan 20, 2018 ]
I had a regular cable for apple and android that I installed in the back of the radio when I installed thr unit. No need for that 30 pin cable. [ Roger D. Jan 20, 2018 ]
Regular lightning cable. Just plug it to USB 1 on the back of the unit. [ Robb Jan 20, 2018 ]
Any usb to apple will work! Enjoy!!! [ THOMAS Jan 20, 2018 ]
I have never tried to adjust them works fine for me the way that it is, sorry couldn't help more. [ Anthony Jan 16, 2018 ]
    Yes [ Ed Jan 15, 2018 ]
Yes, poke around in the various menus and that ability is there. I used it to good effect. [ Guest Jan 15, 2018 ]
Yes you can! [ Mary Jane Jan 15, 2018 ]
It asks you once to not be distracted while driving. So only one ok to press every time [ Jonathan Dec 10, 2017 ]
It pops up and goes away on its own if you dont press the enter button [ Kelly Dec 10, 2017 ]
Mine only asks once but automatically times out after 7 seconds, so you don't even have to hit the ok button. Typically whatever you're listening to will start playing in the background weather you hit ok, or wait. [ GREGORY Dec 10, 2017 ]
It only ask once after every start up I've gotten use to it I mean it could be worst I could still be using my 2006 stock ford radio that doesn't have the features I have now im very happy with the receiver no complains [ Jarred Dec 10, 2017 ]
I guess not mine do the same thing it never bothered me. [ Everett Dec 10, 2017 ]
Yes - it has two video inputs [ DAVID Dec 01, 2017 ]
Yes, that is for I have mine set up! [ THOMAS Dec 01, 2017 ]
    Yes! [ Mary Jane Jan 15, 2018 ]
Yes, you can adjust the volume of the gps and music separately which is pretty useful. Highly recommend this unit especially with the backup camera. [ Alex Nov 21, 2017 ]
A new mic is required. It was pretty easy to tuck in around the trim. The hardest part was cramming all the extra cable and boxes into the console. [ Baxter Nov 17, 2017 ]
If you are talking about a Bluetooth headset I would say probably not. I just ran the mic about two feet and put it on the tilt steering column, easy installation. [ Jeffrey Jay Nov 17, 2017 ]
Check the manual, there is a chart that shows file structure, it needs to be fairly simple. It won't handle multiple sub folders [ GREGORY Feb 02, 2018 ]
I don't have much music on my phone. As this unit only holds one CD, I copied many songs in MP3 format to a SD card which provides virtually unlimited music. Hope this helps. [ STEVEN Nov 04, 2017 ]
I've never attempted to create a playlist through the interface (that might be a little cumbersome, but that's just personal preference), but I regularly use the playlists available on my iPhone. In fact, once you connect to ApplePlay and launch the Music app, "Playlists" is the second option, right after "Recently Added". This is likely indicative of the OS of your phone, as it's the same order there. You can also shuffle a playlist's playback, if so inclined. [ BRETT M Nov 04, 2017 ]
I'm not sure which one it is but it works very well [ JEREMY RAY Oct 31, 2017 ]
    Clear resistive [ GREGORY Oct 30, 2017 ]
Resistive, though it's pretty accurate, and you don't have to press too hard. [ David Oct 30, 2017 ]
Depending on the car, you may need to install this one. But first find out if there is an adapter to use the camera built into the car. I would never remove the camera already installed in a car, you will need that for resale value if you intend to remove the 4201 when you sell the car. Call Crutchfield support and they will probably be able to tell you what parts you need and what to do. [ Isaiah Oct 24, 2017 ]
Depends on the make and model of the vehicle, if there is iDatalink for your vehicle it could possibly retain the factory cam and use the Pioneer for a side cam or a nanny cam etc etc. If there is no iData link avail then you can install the Pioneer can near the plate [ THOMAS Oct 24, 2017 ]
USB 1 is for ? and USB 2 is for Android. I have two iPhones, one for work and my personal one. I've been plugged into both at one time and have been able to play from both. [ Michael Feb 02, 2018 ]
That I'm not 100% sure of, I know for sure you can connect two devices. One would be via Bluetooth, the other via usb. I do believe there's an option for usb 1 / usb 2 so I don't see why it wouldn't work. This is a awesome unit btw I don't regret it one bit. [ Alex Oct 20, 2017 ]
Fellow customer response: This unit has no built in navigation but instead uses the applications on your phone (Android Auto/Apple Car Play). So if you have a navigation app on your smart phone that already works for you in South Africa then this unit will simply display it on the screen (Google Maps and Waze are the ones I know). Make sure your phone meets the basic requirements to work with Android Auto / Apple Car Play) and you're good. [ JEFF Sep 19, 2017 ]
I live in the us i use Apple car play if you use Apple maps with no promblem then it should work hope this helps really great product though [ Jarred Sep 19, 2017 ]
It should connect yes. And u can always send it back if it doesn't. [ Everett Sep 19, 2017 ]
    I play *.mp4's from both USB and SD. [ Michael Feb 02, 2018 ]
Yes, i do from usb, i think it will also from the SD. [ THOMAS Sep 11, 2017 ]
I use my iPhone MAP and CarPlay and this works great! Only things disabled while in motion are pairing a new phone or tweaking the radio settings. [ Mary Jane Jan 15, 2018 ]
Its supposed to operate like built-in GPS where you cannot enter an address while driving, but can choose POI's to stop at. I've seen different Android Auto receivers where the passenger used the phone to start a trip, connected it to the receiver, and then the interface in the receiver took over displaying the info and announcing the turns all while the vehicle was in motion. My Bio: [ Paul Sep 11, 2017 ] Staff
Your nav app on the phone determines what is blocked while moving i use ways, apple and google no problems!! [ THOMAS Sep 11, 2017 ]
Yes it will display text from a CD as long as that cd supports/shows the meta data info. If it's an older cd, prob not. [ 12vtech Aug 31, 2017 ]
of the few CDs I have tried there was no text it just would say track 1 track 2 track 3 Etc. [ Braden Aug 03, 2017 ]
No it does not. Sorry [ THOMAS Aug 03, 2017 ]
I wouldn't think not most stereos do nowadays as long as you make a copy of it on iTunes and click the Box display music text it should but original CDs 90% of the stereos do not companies don't believe to put this on most CDs original CDs [ James Edward Aug 02, 2017 ]
I believe so it does with pandora [ Everett Aug 02, 2017 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone () or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Kenny Jul 13, 2017 ] Staff
    Yes! [ Mary Jane Jan 15, 2018 ]
    Absolutely. [ Matthew Jul 01, 2017 ]
Yes it does. Bluetooth and CarPlay work fine. The interface is actually better than the phone. The channels are set up like playlists with each song having a number. Such as 1/20. It also works with the other music apps on my phone. Including Pandora (obviously) and Amazon Music. The available apps show up on the screen with the appropriate icons. All in all, it's a pretty slick radio. I'm not sorry I bought it. [ JEFF Jun 29, 2017 ]
The 50W is peak power output per channel for each of its 4 channels. It's also worth mentioning that this receiver outputs 14W RMS per channel for each of it 4 channels. HTH! My Bio: [ Paul Jun 21, 2017 ] Staff

I have my camera mounted just below where a front license plate would go on my Yukon Denali and yes it can be activated while driving. Parking still takes some getting used to and you should be careful till you get used to it. The wide angle of the camera makes it a little difficult to determine exact distance you are from obstacles. [ Mary Jane Jun 10, 2017 ]
as long as the license plate camera has an RCA type connector, yes... that should work fine [ Rodney Jun 09, 2017 ]
yes I have done exactly that. Works great and can be turned on and off while driving. Enjoy it! [ THOMAS Jun 09, 2017 ]
My license plate is recessed into rear bumper cover. Mounted camera in recess directly above license plate, works great. [ STEVEN Nov 04, 2017 ]
The fidelity of the video is limited by the camera. I recommend mounting it where it gets the least amount of sun to avoid lens flair, but other than that, it is what it is. I would not expect 4K quality out of it. [ Patrick Jun 05, 2017 ]
As I understand it, the 4201NEX is nothing more than a 4200NEX bundled with a Pioneer ND-BC8 backup camera -- not exactly a product enhancement, more like a way to force you to buy a Pioneer camera too. [ Marc Jun 04, 2017 ]
Thanks for your question. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone () or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget. [ Krissy Apr 26, 2017 ] Staff
